At-a-Glance
DISTRICT 1 MILESTONES
It has been six years since I first took office, and despite a global pandemic a great deal has been accomplished in the City of South Fulton and District 1. We have experienced significant growth:
● New Retail: Publix, The Freshest Salad Bar, Arden’s Garden, Popeye’s, Skin Matters Wax and Beauty Bar, Taco Bell, Starbucks and Chipotle, Gocha’s Breakfast Bar and Gocha's Tapas Bar.
● New Services: Healing Garden Community Health Center at Promenade Park, PT Solutions, Allstate Insurance and Berkshire Hathaway.
● Community Beautification: Monthly community cleanups with Cascade Business and Merchants Association (BMA) & Brightview Contracted Maintenance of Cascade Road Streetscape.
● City’s First Public Art Installations: District 1 features our city’s first two public art installations – Sandtown Park Mural and Boat Rock Roundabout.
● New Greenspace: Opening of the Campbellton Creek Nature Preserve, 81-acres of new greenspace in District 1.
● Park Improvements: Sandtown Recreation Center is currently under renovation with opening late Summer/Fall 2023 and new investments in Trammell Crow Park forthcoming.
● New Housing: Anthem I & II senior housing community, Rocklyn Townhomes and Story II Luxury Apartment Homes, and completion of two unfinished subdivisions: Wynn Creek and Enon Pines.
● Infrastructure: Eight subdivisions repaved with more to come under TSPLOST II, replacement of Cascade Bridge and Culvert. In 2023, sidewalks for Danforth Road and New Hope Road, and a bridge and culvert replacement on Fairburn Road.
● Redevelopment: Created opportunity Zone to support the redevelopment of the Fulton Industrial I-20 interchange and committed to addressing blighted properties on Fulton Industrial Boulevard.
